Psychometric Testing Within the Workplace

When implemented correctly, psychometric tests and aptitude tests can be used very effectively for a variety of different purposes within the workplace. Below are some of the most useful ways in which they can be used:

Recruiting staff

Having a candidate complete a psychometric test when they first apply for a job can be a great way for recruiters and managers to determine which candidates may be most suitable for a position. Personality, knowledge and aptitude tests are all good tools for making assessments at the recruitment stage.

Individual development

Using an aptitude test or psychometric test can also be helpful when trying to establish how an individual can improve their current performance. For example, if a company is going to start using a new type of technology, it may well be helpful to assess individuals on how their interests and motivations relate to modern technologies. In this instance, an aptitude test tailored to training and development could be used to help determine an individual’s ability to perform new tasks.

Team building

Employees who have a better understanding of themselves and others are more likely to build and retain positive vocational relationships. Although general personality tests can be very helpful for team building purposes, there are specific tests available which can be even more beneficial as they can uncover potential sources of relationship tension.
