Aspects of an Aptitude Test

Psychometric test‘ is an umbrella term. It can mean a variety of tests, everything from personality tests to verbal or numeracy tests. Although each variant of the psychometric test is designed to assess different aspects of your aptitude, they are all essentially trying to achieve the same thing: a quantifiable assessment of  your suitability for a job.

Online psychometric tests are often the only tool that a potential employer has to assess, quantifiably, the suitability of candidates. Often they are used where there are bulk applications, as they easily rule out or rule in candidates based on test scores.

Unlike, perhaps, other parts of your application process, a psychometric test can’t be “charmed” and no amount of good presentation can subvert its assessment. Instead a psychometric test, just like your school exams, requires preparation and aptitude.

The latter we can’t help you with, however our online psychometric tests are the ideal way to help you prepare for your test, which can consist of the following:

Personality tests: usually in the form of a questionnaire it will assess how you would react in a range of situations, and will build a fairly accurate measure of your personality type.

Numerical reasoning: this test will focus on your aptitude with numbers, and will usually consist of a range of maths-based questions.

Verbal reasoning: this test focuses on your aptitude with language, sentence structure and words.

Whatever the form of your test, which may incorporate all three aspects, as well as others, practise can significantly improve your score, and so it is definitely worth “getting to know” the kinds of questions you will be facing prior to taking the assessment.
