About AssessmentDay
Q) Who are AssessmentDay?
A) AssessmentDay are a professional team of
individuals including charted occupational
psychologists, researchers, and a programmers. Our
mission is to provide customers with current,
accurate practice aptitude tests to help you prepare
for psychometric aptitude tests. We make it our job
to find out as much as we can about the sometimes
secretive world of psychometric testing, and pass on
the knowledge to our customers. We are not a testing
company who provide psychometric tests for
employers; we provide only practice tests which
means we are able to reveal to you and tutor you in the
solutions to our questions.
Q) Please provide details about your
service
A) We provide a series of online practice aptitude
tests which mimic those used by employers in their
selection processes. If you buy our tests you will
have online access to the practice simulation
software (Adobe Flash based) and also PDF versions
of the questions and solutions so you may take a
simulated test or print the questions for use
offline. The best way to see what you will have
access to is to look at our free sample tests;
members get access to a similar thing but there are
hundreds more questions and solutions.

About the Tests
Q) Can I see some free samples of the
practice tests?
A) Yes, we have free samples on our website. Go to
either the numerical, verbal or inductive reasoning
sections on our site and scroll to about a third of
the way down the page. We have free samples for all
our tests and this is the best way to see what you
will be getting with the full products.
Q) Will your practice tests run on a Mac?
A) Yes. The AssessmentDay tests run using Adobe
Flash and therefore run on any browser which
supports Flash (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox,
Safari, Opera, Chrome, SeaMonkey, Flock, etc.)
Q) Where do you get your tests from?
A) Most of our questions are written by the same
chartered occupational psychologists who write the
real questions used by employers. The remainder are
written by us after dissecting real employer
aptitude tests. Either way, you can be sure of the
accuracy and relevance of the practice tests
contained on our site.
Q) Who are the AssessmentDay practice
tests designed for?
A) If you are a job seeker and someone has invited
you to take an aptitude test, you should practice
beforehand to increase your chances of success.
Whilst our practice tests cover a range of
difficulty levels up to senior management level, our
practice tests are especially suited to graduate
roles.
Most employers use selection tests nowadays to help
them sift through applicants. Try to find out about
the tests you are being asked to take; don’t be
afraid of asking the employer directly. If the tests
include either numerical reasoning, verbal
reasoning, or inductive reasoning our tests will
help. Note that personality tests are also sometimes
used by employers, we do not provide practice
personality tests, only practice aptitude tests.
Q) Are your tests similar to SHL?
A) Yes. Chartered occupational psychologists write
our questions to replicate the same style and format
of the major test publishers, which include SHL,
Kenexa and Cubiks. In fact, some of our question
writers have worked for these same test publishers,
so they know what the questions are like. Our
questions are not exactly the same questions used by
SHL because they hold the copyright to them, but our
questions are a close approximation to them.
Q) How difficult are your tests / what
level of job selection tests do your tests
replicate?
A) The style and format of
all employer ability tests are standardised and
consequently our tests will almost certainly be of
the same style and format. What does vary between
employers and roles however is the difficulty. The
difficulty of our tests spans from graduate scheme
level to senior management level. If you are
applying for something like a director's position at
an accountancy firm, you will have to face the most
difficult tests available and you will find our
practice are easier than your real test. For most
jobs however, our tests will cover the level of
difficulty you will face for real. For a good idea
of how difficult other people rate our tests, see
our
feedback page.
Anything Else
Q) Is it ethical to practice these tests
before my real test?
A) Yes, our practice tests are
ethical because they are not the same questions
employers actually use; they are close
approximations to those questions. Testing companies
and employers actually encourage candidates to
practise so that the results are taken from a level
playing field. It's inevitable some candidates are
going to prepare, and it would not be representative
to compare those with candidates who did no
practice. Companies are testing an applicant's
specific ability, not how quickly they get used to a
testing interface.
Q) What's the difference between a
psychometric test and an aptitude test?
A) An aptitude test is a type of
psychometric test. The phrase psychometric test is
an umbrella term used to describe two streams of
scientific testing: personality questionnaires and
ability (or aptitude) testing. Personality
questionnaires are concerned with character traits
such as positive thinking and honesty, whereas
ability tests are concerned with cognitive aptitude
and capacity to analyse.
Q) Will my employer be able to find out
if I've used your practice tests?
A) No. We have strict privacy policies and
never reveal who has used our tests. In the interest
of keeping our test questions relevant, we invite
customers to leave feedback on how accurate our
tests have been. This feedback is visible to the
public but all identifiable information (e.g. your
username or email address) are kept strictly
private.
Q) I have only one day before my real
test, is this enough?
A) Yes. We recommend you try at least four practice
tests before taking your real test. If you have time
to do more, then even better. Since our tests are
available immediately online after payment, you can
leave it right up to the last minute to order. Don't
trade practice for sleep though; make sure you get a
good night's sleep before your real test.
